#12,640 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I got 50% through and just lost interest. MC was just too one-dimensional to me and game-world seemed a little unrealistic under the assumption that 100M plus people were supposed to be logged in at any give time...

At first, I was somewhat skeptical because it looked like a typical LITMMORPG books, which there are a ton out there. But I really appreciated the simplicity of the game system, and it had some similarities to games like DC Universe Online or Champions Online, both very old games at this point about heroes and villains. However, the NPCs are much more life-like, and play big roles in the story. And the main character is not like a typical player either, due to certain circumstances that I will leave other readers to find out(pretty much explained in the beginning of the book).

Was a good first book, main character was bit of a whiner about his situation but eventually starts to suck it up buttercup and kick some villain butt. Look forward to future additions to series. Highly recommended

I'm afraid it wasn't a great attempt. Even for the dead horse of "trapped in the game" this story was weak. A cop, and son of a judge is made a digital prisoner in a public game after death, and cut off from communication with family and friends...and during the one call he managed to sneak in, he calls his fiance instead of his lawyer or dad?So the good... No noticable typos, misspelled words, or other signs of "solo publishing."The critique...Exposition out the wahoo, and frankly the story was just boring, and the litRPG elements felt bolted on after the fact... When the MC is waving aside 90 of system notifications, and not making any real attempt to learn the rules of the game, you know the author didn't really want to be writing a LitRPG story.I wanted to like it, prose superhero fiction is one of my favorite genres... But I had to force myself to finish this one, and was skipping pages at a time. I wish the author best of luck but probably will skip the next one. Maybe get a more assertive editor who demands more lean prose and more rewrites?

I had high hopes for this book because I love superhero books. All the idea of it was something of a fertile ground and seemed like a good story could come from it, the basic shallow sitcom dialogue and almost unbelievably easy defeat of challenges that were built up as so much more than they ended up being for convenience made it hard. The main character has a sidekick who a dialogue and actions that were supposed to be good naturedly cute, but really became very annoying. Although I really appreciate an author putting out a superheroes / superpower book, this one felt pretty shallow, contrived, and annoying. I felt like I read through one of those comedy shows in the 70s and 80s where every episode when end up with somebody making an inane comment that Sparks plastic laughter from everybody. It seems like the author was in a hurry and really cared about words being on the pages in the appearance of a story versus depth and development.

Reads like a GameLit story written for someone who's never played a video game and has very simple tastes. I wanted to like it as a good City of Heroes theme story but...no.ProsGood (not perfect) punctuation, spelling, etc....that's about itConsSome elements of game world too unrealistic. World's #1 VRMMO, been out for years, and the char name Winter is still avail?MC is a whiny jerk who fancies himself a heroic good guy but has obvious anger issuesMC's attitude really didn't fit using words like "darn." Lack of cursing felt very unnatural.MC is a complete moron who is constantly asking questions about things just explained to him or which are painstakingly obvious.MC's initial companion is overly annoying and stupid...which I guess means they deserve each other but why make us read about them?

A MC thats seems pretty useless like a random misfits superhero parody with a sidekick thats designed to be annoying and succeeds with flying colors and a world that, despite the misfit parody'ish theme, embraces rape and torture. It doesn't shove rape into your face but its still made very clear that its a part of this world. I dislike such dark themes but read on believing it to be downplayed to an acceptable level but thats not even why it was so hard to force myself to read, it was largely due to the sidekick being so annoying and the MC being only slightly less annoying. Then you have nonsense like girl who hasn't said anything about who she is flips out because the MC didn't tell her who he was even though he's legally bound not to? Then tons and tons of hey, lets just chat for pages worth of dialog while a bad guy recovers or while he is "surprised" or in another case.. on fire of which he is basically immune to. This book was hard to read and not enjoyable at all for me for lots of reasons. Also, the MC is putting points into energy.. well, what does intellect do? Never tells us. What about how he can 1v1 a mob 30 levels higher than him that killed him in 1 hit earlier by using a lvl 1 spell? So many things I disliked about this book.

This was pretty good. There's nothing groundbreaking here when it comes to superhero or LitRPG, but this was a fun read and the author seems to have a pretty good grasp of writing - looking at the books he's written, he's had a lot of practice (though he doesn't seem to understand what a "secret ID" is, which is odd). Why aren't this authors books read more than they are? It's very surprising, and these are popular genres.
