About the Author
Professor Simon Judd has been a member of staff at Cranfield since August 1992, and has managed and/or procured most of the biomass separation MBR programmes conducted within the Centre since that time. He has been principal or co-investigator on three major UK research council-sponsored programmes dedicated to MBRs with respect to in-building water recycling, sewage treatment and contaminated groundwaters/landfill leachate, as well as two EU-sponsored MBR programmes (EUROMBRA and MBRTRAIN). He has also managed projects in membranes for potable and industrial water treatment, as well as in water recycling.As well as publishing extensively in the research literature, Simon has co-authored three textbooks in membrane and MBR technology. Invited presentations at international membrane conferences have included five keynote papers. He has also provided consultancy to clients based in Denmark, Finland, Japan, Korea, North America, Switzerland and the UK, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Just got the book today, so I obviously haven't read it. But I did skim it and find the book hard to search...there is not a detailed table of contents and I am missing 6 pages of the index -making it even more difficult to find specific information. Overall, though, the book seems to be quite thorough.
If you are looking for a bible on MBRs this is the one.
For anyone with an interest or working involvement in membrane bioreactor technology, The MBR Book is regarded as The Bible on the subject. It contains chapters on the global market status (Chapter 1), the fundamentals (largely centred on academic research, Chapter 2), a "design, operation and maintenance" chapter (Chapter 3), a summary of commercial technologies (Chapter 4), and numerous case studies (Chapter 5). The book benefits from contributions from many experience MBR professionals and is undoubtedly the most comprehensive reference text available on the subject. There is a bias towards municipal applications, but some coverage is provided of the wide variety of industrial applications as well. The book has retained the five chapter structure of the first edition which makes it somewhat unwieldy. However, the second edition provides a substantial enhancement of the first edition (from 2006), and the significant research, technological and commercial developments in the ensuing five years warrant this new edition.
