As a consultant, this book taught me about the importance of trading on my expertise, instead of trading in tasks, services, or deliverables. It really is the only way to get away from jobs that are solely about the execution (typically bad situations) and instead land clients for whom you can contribute to their strategy, thereby providing them with the full value of what you bring to the table.
This book was great. I love David C. Baker's way of thinking and talking about this topic. I haven't yet seen any other book that specifically tackles the issue of brand positioning as an expert. It is for real experts who have worked to earn their expertise, not overnight consultants. David Baker is very right when he says that it takes a certain courage and his book provides a lot of guidance for the journey.
You can feel the rigor of his insights. Readable and insightful. I imagine it would be quite boring to someone with a product business, but for the consultant types, this is highly relevant.
