Review
“...we love Olivier’s depiction of a foodie superhero – an adventurous eater who isn’t afraid to at least taste everything, and her cookbook features awesome tips for turning your tiny taster into a true food lover. Why You Should Buy It: Olivier recognizes that parents need to eat too, and includes fun drink pairings for the grown-up set. It’s truly a cookbook for the whole family.†― Red TricycleWhat Parents are Saying about Michele Olivier and Little Foodie:â€I've tried almost al the recipes and my 9-month-old loves them all. She never wants to leave her high chair. I've searched all over internet and yours is the best that I can find. I bought your cookbook and am cooking the and freezing like crazy. I am so proud that my daughter loves all the food and that I am able to make it for her.â€â€•Mandy L.“Just bought your cookbook and made this recipe first. I didn't know it was possible for my daughters mouth to open as wide as it did. Huge hit!! Your recipes are hands down the best and most creative I've found. Here's (hopefully) to little foodies in the making!â€â€•Therese H.“My baby went crazy over this (roasted banana + rosemary puree) this morning. So far he has been a very good eater, even eating all of his zucchini (which was the one I was most worried about), but he lovvveeeeed this puree. And I admit, after tasting a little when I was checking the temperature, I almost ate it myself…â€â€•Ashely O.

I am a mother of two and food/nutrition has been of great importance to our journey. I am excited to have this book and would most likely recommend it for any new mother who needs some ideas of how to prepare foods for their little ones. The recipes are very healthy and include a variety of foods for tasting. There are also some recipes in the book that I plan on making for our whole family to share! I appreciate the layout of the book and the multiple pictures they have included- this makes for an eye-appealing book! "Little Foodie" will be on my shelf for reference I'm sure for years to come. I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I have really gotten a lot of use out of this book. My baby has eaten everything I have made him from this book. I've been using it since he started solids at seven months and he's 12 months now. I also use The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet: Know What Goes Into Every Bite with More Than 200 of the Most Deliciously Nutritious Homemade Baby Food ... More Than 60 Purees Your Baby Will Love,Start Fresh: Your Child's Jump Start to Lifelong Healthy Eating, and Naturally Delicious Meals for Baby: Over 150 Fun, Fresh, and Easy Recipes to Nourish Your Baby and Toddler by Hawes, Gerrie [Da Capo Press, 2005] (Paperback) [Paperback]. Little Foodie is my favorite because the recipes are close to what I myself would want to eat, which I think prepares my baby for eating with the family. The book is broken down into six sections:1. The food you eat- smaller2. The how-to chapter3. Purees 4+months4. Finger foods, snacks and smoothies 9+months5. Our meal is your meal 12+months6. Dinners on demand 24+monthsI like that the chapters are broken up by age group, which makes it easy to look up recipes in an age range. It also gave me a lot of courage to make up my own recipes based on what I have on hand instead of just heating and pureeing frozen vegetables.
When I first started reading this book I thought I wouldn't learn too much, my kiddo just hit the 1 year mark and we are part purees so I though well probably not much here for me. Boy was I wrong! First and foremost I thought I knew a lot about purees, but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or spice to enhance the flavors for the little ones, I would have never thought about it! I also love the idea that they have that we should think about our kids as just little versions of ourselves and that they should eat essentially little versions of what we eat. I think that is just an amazing idea, where most of us are thinking that babies and kids need special foods and to be different, but they really don't. Some helpful things I also came across in the book were reasons to cook at home, what foods to not give to the kiddos, when and how to introduce both purees and solids, storing purees. I also love that the book is broken up by age, that is so helpful! I am excited to dive into the 12 month section, then the 24 month section. Two recipes I am so excited about for the 12 month section is the sesame tofu stick and health shepards pie. I received this book for an honest review.
This book, Little Foodie is great for mothers who want to feed healthy food to their babies from the start. In part I the author write about the different foods served to babies around the world. According to her a baby can eat anything as long as there is no family history of allergies. It also tells you what foods to avoid before 12 months age. The recipes are divided by the age. They all look very yummy.I wish I had this book when my children were young. It is a very nice gift to give to a new mom. These days most people are leaning towards natural and organic foods free of chemicals and preservatives. You can make these foods, snacks and smoothies. These can be frozen in a freezer tray and thaw when you are ready to feed the baby. This way less is wasted and you’ll know what your baby likes. A nice way to develop your baby’s taste for different foods. I received this book free in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the very best book i've seen so far on baby food. it's perfect. you don't have to be a great cook to love and use this book. we've made just about every recipe and our son loves it all. but even more important than the ease of use, is the fact that our baby is being introduced to spices and herbs and non-bland ingredients from a young age. american baby food is shameful. i'm hoping books like this will change the way parents cook for their little humans in the US.
I LOVE this book--afnd my 7 month old son loves it too. I've tried almost all of the recipes for 6-9 month old babies and am so excited to make good quality, flavorful food for him. The recipes are simple, although not too many pictures if that's something you're looking for. Some of the ingredients may not be things you'd typically have in your pantry, but it's relatively easy to swap them out for other ingredients (i.e., use kosher salt instead of Himalayan salt if you don't have it...although I recommend it!). I never thought my son would devour pears, oats, cloves and dates but he loves them all pureed together! And I know that I'm giving him a wide range of tastes for his little palate that he will hopefully translate into a great eater when he's older. I'm definitely not the type of mom who will be cooking a separate meal for her child than the rest of the family. If you're in the same boat, get this book. It's my 3rd baby cookbook and I wish it was my first, because it would have been the only one.
