This edition of "The Image of the Black in Western Art" continues to be a very high quality art history source. That's why we're fully committed to purchasing the entire 10-book set on Amazon. You really can't say you know art history without having referenced this series. As in all types of history, context and content are paramount. "The Image of the Black in Western Art" provides both exceptionally well, especially in its very informative details and many excellent photographs. A true book collector's resource.
I love this book because it shows a true history that is not portrayed by movies. Some of the reading seems to be couched in terminology that was deemed acceptable by the dominant culture. But pictures and artifacts in themselves don’t lie.
As a fervent student of the Bible this will come in handy with your understanding.
